Is the Linkstyle smoke alarm worth buying?
It is a good value if you are already building a Linkstyle setup. It detects smoke and abnormally high temperature, warns you when someone removes it, and sends alerts to your phone. The big requirement is easy to miss: it needs the Linkstyle Smart Security Gateway, because it talks over Zigbee rather than Wi-Fi directly. Buy it on its own and it will not work.
Smoke alerts that follow you out of the house
A normal smoke alarm only helps if you are home to hear it. This one forwards alerts to your phone through the app. Despite the product name mentioning WiFi, the listing says it communicates over Zigbee 3.0 and requires the Smart Security Gateway.
